I've used BBG for three years with many students and have been very pleased, especially with the challenge the quizzes in the back provide. The rules are straightforward with a couple examples of each. If you read the rules corresponding to each set of two quizzes first and then take the quizzes, you'll do much better on them.
I have never yet found what I consider a perfect grammar book, but this one comes close! It presents basic AND advanced concepts clearly, provides understandable examples, and challenges students with quizzes.
