Recorded live, this DVD writing course for students by Andrew Pudewa is comprised of four writing sessions on DVD. Each session presents structural models and stylistic techniques from our TWSS Syllabus. Included with the student handouts are complete teacher notes, source texts, and checklists providing fifteen comprehensive lessons to ensure your student masters each unit before moving on to the next. Since these lessons can take one to two weeks to complete, the entire package can provide 15–30 weeks of writing instruction.

Each group (A, B, or C) presumes no previous experience; levels differ mainly in the type of source texts used, speed of presentation, and sophistication of vocabulary. Choose the level based on your child’s age and maturity rather than writing ability, and if you wish to use the SWI with children of mixed ages, you can generally select level B, “shooting for the middle.” Even students with little writing experience can immediately enjoy Andrew’s humor and realize the process is not so overwhelming as they learn techniques to create a more enjoyable finished composition. Their concept of writing as being “too hard” changes; they now have the tools for success!
The Student Writing Intensive now comes with lesson plans and reinforcement exercises built right in. Written by Jill Pike, these lesson plans specify what portion of the disc to watch in one session and what to do in between video sessions. If you purchased your Student Writing Intensive in the past, still have your original handouts and binder, and would like to have these additional resources, please feel free to download these lessons and use them with your students.

For families with more than one student, there is no need to purchase more than one DVD series. You can simply order an additional notebook, or photocopy the student materials (for use within the same family).
