ONLINE TUTORIALS:
STARTING POINTS ~ ONLINE TUTORIAL: For grades 8 through high school. This one-year world view course integrates the disciplines of literature, history, and Bible/theology for 3 1/2 credits, equivalent to over three high school classes in this one course! Using Socratic questions, we discuss Biblical doctrines and key ideas of culture, literature, and history. Students learn to compose basic paragraphs using IEW methods, then to write papers and compositions as well as speeches. Pupils write through the complete Excellence in Writing syllabus with STARTING POINTS WORLDVIEW BASED WRITING and are introduced to literary analysis with TEACHING THE CLASSICS. STARTING POINTS ONLINE CLASS meets TUESDAYS 1:00-3:00 Eastern Time online.

THE BIBLE AND ANCIENT THOUGHT ----ONLINE TUTORIAL
WORLD VIEWS of the WESTERN WORLD ~ “THE BIBLE AND ANCIENT THOUGHT” (WV1) contrasts the ideas of the Biblical world view and the Greek-Roman world view. Let your students establish a solid biblical world and develop a Christian moral compass they’ll need to evaluate the ideas they’ll confront in life! This is an all-encompassing, multi-subject, interdisciplinary Christian course of study that features classics and Socratic dialogue with a mentor. Students learn Excellence in Writing essays with literary analysis as they study epic poetry and Medieval prose using The ELEGANT ESSAY, Teaching the Classics, and WINDOWS to the WORLD. High school students earn four full credits—equal to four high school classes! THE BIBLE AND ANCIENT THOUGHT ONLINE CLASS meets WEDNESDAYS 1:00-3:00 PM Eastern Time.

LOCAL CLASSES:
WORLDVIEWS OF THE WESTERN WORLD-- "THE BIBLE AND ANCIENT THOUGHT" (WV1) is a study paced for students in GRADES 7-9 who want a slower pace. We'll begin with STARTING POINTS' American History and continue with "THE BIBLE AND ANCIENT THOUGHT studying Ancient literature up to the Middle Ages". Monday mornings 9:30-11:30 am at a private home near Tom Sawyer Park, Louisville KY. Begins August 13, 2012.
WORLD VIEWS OF THE WESTERN WORLD: THE REVOLUTIONARY AGE (WV3) compares and contrasts four major revolutions: the English, American, French, and Russian Revolutions covering 1600s through early 20th Century. This course is equal to 4 1/2 credits, equivalent to taking over four full year-long courses in just one class! Add math, science, and elective(s) for a full course of study.

BIOGRAPHY
A pastor's wife for 25 years and homeschool mom for two decades, Cathy Flowers earned a B.A. degree in English, completing a humanities course at San Jose State University, studying the Great Books, humanities, and philosophy from a classical perspective. She has extensively studied and used Christian classical educational theory in her homeschool and classes.
For the past thirteen years, she has taught writing and literature classes using the Institute for Excellence in Writing methods, and Cornerstone Curriculum courses for five years. She is passionate about initiating students into the “mysteries” of good writing and strives to help all her pupils become competent writers. Cathy is an Excellence in Writing Certified Instructor and exhibitor.
